April Birchall

April has a veterinary background, graduating from Massey University in 2010. Since then, she has been predominantly focused on dairy, both as a vet and also farming with her husband. She soon realised her interest lay more in the whole farm system, rather than the small but important part animal health plays. She completed further study including Sustainable Nutrient Management, and a Diploma in Agribusiness Management, joining Headlands in 2020.

In addition to nutrition and animal health, April enjoys crunching numbers, whether that be financial or feed budgets, and after spending time assisting with Afimilk Support, she has a keen interest in collar technology, and maximising the farmer’s investment. April is based on the border of the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions, in the beautiful Waikite Valley.
